How to Schedule Lunch, Holidays, and Time Off for Workers in RazorSync

If you need to block out time for your field technicians' lunch breaks, holidays, or personal time off, RazorSync offers several creative approaches using its existing scheduling features. This guide will help you choose the right method based on your specific scheduling needs.

Steps to Resolve:

For Daily Recurring Lunch Breaks:

  1. Create a new customer account and name it "Lunch."
  2. Navigate to the recurring service request section and create a new recurring service request for that customer.
  3. Assign the specific technician to this recurring request and set the time (e.g., 11 AM, Monday through Friday).
  4. Instruct your technician to set their status to "On Site" when their lunch period begins so you know they're unavailable.

For Company-Wide Holidays:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Company Hours and locate the holiday section.
  2. Add the specific holiday dates to mark them as company-wide days off.
  3. Alternatively, you can create a task called "Holiday" and manually assign it to all workers for that specific date.

For Individual Time Off (Doctor's Appointments, Personal Days):

  1. Create a customer or location named "Time Off."
  2. Create a service request under that customer/location for the specific date and time.
  3. Assign the service request to the worker who needs the time blocked.

⚠️ Important Callout / Things to Avoid:
Do not use tasks for recurring events like daily lunch breaks. Tasks in RazorSync cannot be made recurring, which means you would need to manually create a new task every single day. For any event that repeats regularly, always use the recurring service request method with a designated customer name instead.
