How to Troubleshoot Field Worker Location Tracking in Razor Sync
If a field worker's location is not appearing on your map view, there are several settings that need to be verified on the technician's mobile device. Follow these steps to diagnose and resolve location tracking issues
Steps to Resolve:
- Verify Device Location Permissions
- On the technician's device, open Settings and navigate to Privacy
- Select Location Services (or Permission Manager on Android)
- Find the Razor Sync app and ensure location access is enabled/allowed
- Check In-App Location Settings
- Open the Razor Sync mobile app
- Tap the three bars icon in the bottom right corner
- Select Location Settings
- Verify that Location Tracking is turned ON
- Ensure Technician is Clocked In (Android Only)
- On Android devices, the technician must be actively clocked in for location sharing to work
- Have the technician clock in through the Razor Sync app if they haven't already
- Disable Power Saving Mode
- Check if the device has entered Power Saving Mode (usually triggered by low battery)
- If active, manually disable Power Saving Mode in the device's battery settings
- Power Saving Mode automatically disables location services to conserve battery
- Verify Cellular Signal Strength
- Confirm the technician has adequate cellular signal coverage
- Poor signal can prevent location data from being transmitted
⚠️ Important Callout / Things to Avoid:
Device location permissions cannot be changed remotely. You must walk the technician through changing these settings directly on their device—administrators cannot adjust these permissions from the back office.Additionally, if you're troubleshooting an Android user, remember that location sharing will not work unless the technician is clocked in, even if all other settings are correct. This is a recent change in app behavior.
